AUSTRALIAN rockers AC/DC have announced they will release their first album in eight years this year.
"The waiting is almost over! AC/DC fans can expect the band's next album of new material sometime later this year," they say on www.acdc.com. "The band are currently recording in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien and audio engineer Mike Fraser."
It will be AC/DC's first collection of new material since the release of Stiff Upper Lip in 2000.
Formed in Australia in 1973, AC/DC has delivered rock anthems such as Let There Be Rock, Whole Lotta Rosie and Highway to Hell.
They have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide and 1980's Back in Black - with Brian Johnson on vocals following Bon Scott's death -- sold 22 million copies in the US alone - surpassed only by Michael Jackson's Thriller.
